01 Apr 2015

The Story

It has been announced in the UK that all Scaffold design draughtsman and engineers will be required to wear full PPE when designing temporary works at height. This is to ensure full safety for the Scaffold Designer when designing temporary works at height.

A spokesperson from 48.3 Scaffold Design said they thought it was a great initiation to help raise the health and safety standards in the workplace.

“I feel much safer wearing PPE in the office, I think it’s a fantastic idea and will help to reduce accidents in the workplace.”

The PPE at Desk Act 2015 provides the legal framework to promote, stimulate and encourage high standards of health and safety in places of work. It protects employees from accidental design errors.

Everyone has a duty to comply with the Act, including employers, employees, trainees, self-employed and sub-contractors. The PPE at Desk Act 2015 has been run in a pilot test environment at 48.3 Scaffold Designs offices in Reigate, Surrey. The candidates gave their feedback after trialling the initiative for 1 month and following the ‘thumbs up’ approval from the team the PPE at Desk Act 2015 will be rolled out across the UK from 1st April 2015.
