Graduate Design Engineer

Position:

Permanent, Full time (following successful probationary period)

Location:

We have a positions based at our Design Offices in Leeds & Redhill. 

Brief job role:

To work within the existing design team providing scaffolding and temporary works design schemes for a range of commercial and industrial projects throughout the UK whilst adhering to the latest codes of practice, UK regulations and company policies.

The successful candidate will have the character and attitude to embrace our training and develop the skills and knowledge to produce exceptional design solutions to the highest industry standards, solve complex technical problems, plan and manage project budgets and maintain quality and service delivery standards.  

Start Date:

Start date to suit successful candidate

Essential Criteria:

  • BEng/BSc (Hons) or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Good level of computer literacy including MS Office
  • Good level of knowledge and understanding of technical principles underlying Civil Engineering design and practice
  • Good verbal and written English
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in engineering principles
  • Analytical approach to problem solving
  • Technical drawing experience with demonstrable abilities in producing construction drawings to the highest standard.
  • Positive, self motivated and proactive team player
  • Good communication skills and ability to express ideas
  • Well organised and hold the ability to prioritise work with an effective problem solving outlook
  • Ability to work to programme deadlines
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and a strong work ethic
  • Receptive to constructive feedback

Start date to suit successful candidate

Essential Criteria:

  • BEng / MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering. A BEng/MEng/BSc/MSc in a similar construction related engineering discipline will be considered.
  • A minimum of three years relevant design experience in civil or structural engineering discipline
  • A minimum of one year site experience OR temporary works design experience.
  • Full working knowledge and experience using Autodesk AutoCAD software package (Full, LT, Civil)
  • Experience using 3D Frame Analysis software to create and analyse complex structures.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills

The successful candidate will have the skills to produce and facilitate exceptional design solutions to the highest industry standards, solve complex technical problems, plan and manage project budgets and maintain quality and service delivery standards. They will provide technical leadership within the design team and offer guidance and mentoring to fellow team members, and contribute to the technical direction of the company. 

Start Date:

Start date to suit successful candidate

Essential Criteria:

  • BEng / MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering. A BEng/MEng/BSc/MSc in a similar construction related engineering discipline will be considered.
  • Motivation and drive to achieve IEng MICE or CEng MICE if not already attained within 12-18 months
  • A minimum of five years relevant design experience in a civil or structural engineering discipline
  • 1-3 years of site experience OR temporary works design experience.
  • Good working knowledge and experience using Autodesk AutoCAD software package (Full, LT, Civil)
  • Experience using 3D Frame Analysis software to create and analyse complex structures.
  • Demonstrable team leadership skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
